CORPORATE INFORMATION

The National Railways of Zimbabwe (NRZ) is incorporated in terms of the Zimbabwe Railways Act, Chapter 13:09 as a State Enterprise. It is mandated to provide, operate and maintain an efficient system of public transportation of goods and passengers by rail.

It has an extensive rail network system stretching for 2 760 kilometres and links with contiguous railways as follows:-

Mozambique   – Machipanda/Mutare and Sango/Chicualacuala
South Africa   – Beitbridge/Transvaal
Botswana       – Plumtree/Ramokgwebana
Zambia           – Victoria Falls/Livingstone

The NRZ’s rail network consists of both electrified and unelectrified sections and its motive power fleet consists of steam, electric and diesel–electric locomotives.
